Petzl Standard
PPE inspection is mandatory for good professional practice. It helps ensure user safety and the safety of work at height
operations. The initial PPE Inspector training offered by Petzl is valid for 3 years. For the inspector, it is very important to stay
up to date on Petzl’s recommended protocol. The refresher training serves that purpose and helps further one’s expertise.
Goal(s) of the training
The training reviews the knowledge acquired in the initial training (Inspecting Petzl PPE for workers at height) and allows the Fall
protection PPE Inspector certificate to be renewed for a period of 3 years.
Targeted skills
When this training is over the student will be able to:
• Know and apply the regulations related to PPE tracking
• Inspect PPE using Petzl’s methodology
• Identify wear and defects that require PPE to be retired
• Write inspection reports

– Persons responsible for inspecting fall protection PPE, park PPE managers
– Trainers of people using PPE
